FABB x Brujas x Pretty Records

10p - 1a

Another installment of BRUJAS' epic parties is coming thru to Oberlin's very own 'Sco -- feat. BRUJAS co-found Ari Gil and Sarah Snider

Brujas is a freeform, urban revolutionary feminist collective that expresses community through skateboarding and political organizing–mainly in the form of services and programming designed for urban youth of color. Comprised entirely of young born and bred New Yorkers who care deeply about the wellness of their community, Brujas has made an impact on cultural politics with their work so far. Femme skate dates at their local park, legendary parties such as Anti-Prom & SUCIA, as well as their improvised “FUCK SUMMER CAMP 2016” are a few of the notable programs Brujas have launched in their 2 years of operation.

Label dedicated to releasing music made by not-dudes to combat the marginalization of these voices founded by Sarah Snider.

The FABB Initiative is a programming initiative dedicated to bringing more femme and WoC performers to Oberlin's campus. We hope to empower these minorities as well as broaden popular perceptions of what femme artists are doing in their communities and the important impact they are making. We hope to engage popular locations such as the Oberlin ‘Sco, to facilitate a broader genre of musical performance - to not assume if it’s a hyped up performance that it must be a rapper and they must be male. This initiative seeks to reconstruct the lenses through which Oberlin students see performers and to intentionally raise up voices that often go unheard.
